Explorative Survey on the Position of Migrant Farmers around Nanjing
The development of agricultural production, especially more and more vegetable consumption, in aspects concerning food supply and food safety, plays an important role in urban development and the advancement of living standards of urban citizens. In recent years large numbers of migrant farmers come into Nanjing, and some of them make living with skill of planting vegetable, who contribute their diligence and wisdom for vegetable planting development in Nanjing, which indicates that the role and function of migrant farmers in peri-urban area of Nanjing municipality need to be reconsidered by policy makers and researchers. However, there was inadequate research, and researchers paid only scanty attention to these research fields. This paper is to examine the role and function of migrant farmers around Nanjing municipality, review the major changes of vegetable production development over last decade, and discuss situation of living and production of migrant farmers around Nanjing.
