Knowledge Management Issues in the Public Sector: Evidence from Iran

The new economy poses challenges, and at the same time offers opportunities for both private and public sectors alike. To meet the challenges and take the opportunities, governments must take active initiatives to adopt new management tools, and techniques of the private sector. Knowledge Management (KM) is such an area that needs to be future explored for its full benefits to be reaped. Key issues, challenges, and opportunities of KM in the public sector need to be addressed. The aim of this article are to advance our understanding of KM concepts at organization and enterprise levels in public and private sectors in the knowledge economy and to develop a framework identifying good practices of KM. People, processes, and technology are elements to be considered for public sector KM framework.
