Reinventing Residential Committees from Social Work Perspective
Social work rose and developed to prevent and resolve the social problems during the process of industrialization and urbanization. Social work in western countries replied on the church at the beginning, and then developed into the professional services. In the process of Chinas fast urbanization, the difficulties that social work has been facing are lack of the legal non-government organizations. The thesis took the community governance reform in Yantian District in Shenzhen City as a case and analyzed the new challenges that residential committees are faced after they gained their autonomy. The thesis also studied the basic approach to reinvent residential committees from social work perspective because residential committees were marginalized after the reform.
