Research on the Types, Characteristics and Responses of the Land-requisitioned Farmers Family Stress—A Case Study of Beibei, Chongqing, China
This study aims to examine the family stress of landrequisitioned farmers and offering to solve problems from the perspective of social work. The research is implemented in Beibei district, Chongqing municipality. The results show that the main stress types of land-requisitioned peasants families includes stresses on the employment, on childrens education, on social security, on low income and on the daily life. For the specificity of landrequisitioned fanners, the research finds that among them, the core stress is from deficiency of economic resource which brings about many other stresses, such as the lack of social capital makes it difficult for them to gain social support, their self-help willing is not strong enough to guide them out of the stresses, and poor motivation to solve the problems due to lack of comparison with other groups. This paper argues that the success of resolving their family stresses need not only the support from government, community and their social network, but also the change of their own attitudes towards difficulties and self-helping willing. Social work can play a significant role in this transformational process.
