An Analysis on the Lost-land Peasants Anti-citizenization Behavior—Based on a Survey in Chongqing

With the speeding-up of the urbanization process in China, there are an increasing number of lost-land peasants. Through questionnaires and interviews, it was found that the lost-land peasants have some anticitizenization behaviors such as postponing citizenization, excluding citizenization and debasing citizenization, which would, do harm to their transition from peasants to citizens. The main reasons leading to these behaviors include insufficient compensation, conflicts occurring in land requisition, irrational resettlement method, and difficulty to find a job in urban areas. In conclusion, it was put forward that several measures should be taken to promote the identity change of the lost-land peasants, namely the macro system of guarantee constructed by government, positive influence of resettlement community and personal improvement of lost-land peasants themselves.
