Mechanism of Endodormancy in Deciduous Fruit Trees
There are many differences between most temperate woody species and deciduous fruit trees in molecular mechanisms of endodormancy For this reason, we mainly focused on the molecular mechanism of dormancy in deciduous fruit trees and discussed the roles of short photoperiod and low temperature as the dormancy-inducing signal. The conclusion is: the subfamily of the Rosaceae is insensitive to short photoperiods in dormancy-inducing. DAM (dormancyassociated MADS-box) genes as candidates for regulating growth cessation and terminal bud formation may be feasible. Studying on the function of the CO/FT module in controlling flower or driving dormancy induction will be an important component of future research in fruit trees. Low temperatures are the environmental cues that induce the shift from paradormancy to endodormancy in buds and simultaneously initiate cold acclimation.
