Effect of Sanhu Tangerine Rootstock on FruitQuality of Newhall Navel Orange
The differences of fruit quality of Newhall navel orange (Citrus sinensis Osbeck) grafted onto Sanhu tangerine and Trifoliate orange were conducted to study the effect of Sanhu tangerine rootstock on fruit quality in order to verify its possibility to be good rootstock of Newhall navel orange. The results indicated that the average simple fruit weight and the fruit vertical transverse diameter of Sanhu tangerine rootstock were bigger than trifoliate; peel a little thinner, the content oftitratable acid (TA) and Vitamin C (Vc) were richer comparing with trifoliate, but there was no significant differences between them; the soluble solids content (SSC) and the ratio of SSC to TA were similar. In addition, combined with the previous researches and investigations in the field, we found that the trees which were grafted onto Sanhu tangerine rootstock grew more vigorous, had a higher yield of fruit and had no obvious deficiency symptoms in Newhall navel oranges of Sanhu tangerine rootstock. So it was hopeful to be the appropriate rootstock of Gannan Newhall navel oranges.
