Effect of Silk Fibroin on Lettuce Seed Germination and Physiological Characteristics of Seedlings under High Temperature Stress
In order to study the influence of silk fibroin on heat tolerance of the Lettuce seeds and seedlings .silk fibroin at 0 (CK)、20、50、100 and 200mg/ L was used to soak the Lettuce(Rapid) seeds and sprayed on its seedlings respectively ,and then they were stressed under high temperature at 35 V in daytime while 30 V at night. Results showed that different components of the silk fibroin could effectively increase the activity of superoxide Dismutase (SOD) 、 Peroxidase (POD) and Catalase(CAT), reduce the content of MDA. This study indicated that silk fibroin at proper concentrations was capable of improving the ability to eliminate reactive oxygen species, reducing cell peroxidation and membrane permeability protecting the functions of biomembrane, raising the heat tolerance of Lettuce seed germination and seedlings.
