The Typology Approach Study on Landscape Architecture in Contemporary Community

This paper discusses the idea of carrying forward Chinese traditional dwelling culture and landscape architecture spirit in contemporary community environment design through the practice of projects in China. In this study, applying typology as design methodology and putting the thoughts of NeoRationalism and Neo-regionalism into practice of residential landscape design to search the prototypes existing in human s collective memory from history and regional axes and pursuit the use of prototype value to create the historical sense of creation and at the same time to avoid the cultural gaps due to the loss of territory style, to meet social diversity needs. These principles are illustrated using a practical design example of Baoyuan Garden and other community environments, which focus on achieving the verve of traditional landscape architecture and human settlement, such as mingling ancient bridges, black awning boats, blue and white porcelains with the local scenes, in order to create the poetic and modest environments, or introduce traditional Chinese medicine theory and the spatial ecology of Five Elements, Yin and Yang, Eight Trigrams - developing the profundity of mental space while expanding the depth of mental space. As a result, establish a stimulating and harmonic relation between people and environments in order to realize the poetic concept of dwelling.
