Current Situations and a Concept Model of Buffer Zones of Chinese National Parks
This paper studies the buffer zones (also known as the periphery protection areas) of Chinese National Parks. It firstly introduced the current basic features of the buffer zones of Chinese National Parks; secondly, it analyzed the major challenges and sources, such as inadequate functioning, insufficient public attention on protection and management practices, and underdeveloped theoretical studies; then, it attempted to build a concept model on systematic study of factors within the buffer zones and their relations, to offer new perspectives and foundation for protection and management of the buffer zones; finally, it applied the concept model in a case for illustration purposes.
