National Cultural Continuity and Landscape Design for Sustainable Development

This paper discusses the historical relationship between national culture and regional characteristic. It probes how to extract geographical elements of national culture and use it in landscape planning and design, to accomplish national cultural continuity. Through analyzing examples of landscape design, this paper proves that sustainable landscape design mainly reflects its characteristics in four aspects, including energy, material, water and natural protection.
