The Application of Landscape Ecology Theory and GIS in the Planning and Design of Ching-Shui Town at Taichung County
The purpose of this study is applying the theory of landscape ecological theory in landscape planning process of Ching-Shui Town at Taichung County to get the optimization guidelines of planning and design strategies to combine the local ecology with man-made environment, to increase the quality of urban living space and to promote the activity and migration of local creatures. Data classification system can help and promote the efficient control of information in the planning process. Second, digitize data to establish a systematic database of landscape ecological resource with geographic information system (GIS). Finally, apply landscape ecological theories in the planning process and analyze data in GIS to process mapping, spatial analysis, and feasibility study and so on. In this study, ecological concept and scientific logical thinking are used to deal with the relationship between the man-made environment and the ecological environment. Therefore, with the application of the theory of landscape ecology in the planning process, one of the findings of this research is to acquire the planning and design guidelines to operate regional planning based on the criteria of mosaic, corridor and matrix.
