Ecological Thinking in Chinese Classical Garden and Its Contemporary Significance
Chinese classical garden is the shan-shui (Mountain and water) garden type of China, represented by Jiangnan private garden, Northern royal garden and Lingnan garden. This paper analyzed the ecological thinking of Chinese classical garden from the view of cultural background and elaborated it by some examples of the Imperial Summer Resort, the Summer Palace and Jiangnan gardens from the aspeects of general allocationt, shan-shui treatment, plant arrangement and building designing. Finally it suggested that these ecological thinking should be inherited in contemporary landscape construction.
