Ecological Restoration Research of the Loess Plateau Ecosystem under the Guidance of Forestry Carbon Sequestration--Taking Bei-mengou Village for Example

The purpose of this article is to explore the ecodesign methods which can effectively increase the forest carbon sink. In Bei-mengou village, which is located in the Loess Plateau, a new type of eco—facility named Eco-incubator is put forward based on synthetically optimization of local ecological restoration, soil erosion prevention and water harvesting measures. The Eco-incubator is designed to triangular cone shape container, which is made of local materials such as reed, willow and so on. The container is filled with seeds, animal manure and other organic fertilizers, and under it local water collecting equipment is buried into the earth. Several Eco-incubators will be assembled as a unit according to topographical conditions of site, and will be fixed in loess by using the living willow branches. In the whole process of collecting materials, production and operation, the Ecoincubator exploit the use of natural doing work, effectively reduces soil erosion, and gradually restores the living environment of green vegetation to achieve the purpose of carbon sinks. So, the whole process is zero-carbon emission. Finally, the Ecoincubator will be integrated into the soil and become a part of the trees. Comparing traditional ecological restoration, the Eco-incubator is a multifunctional ecological facility.
