The Effects of Water Stress on Chlorophyll Fluorescence and Membrane Lipid Peroxidation in Leaves of Malus

The results were followed: the potential photosynthetic activities of PSII(Fv/Fo), primary photochemical efficiency of PSH(Fv/Fm), photochemical quenching coefficient(qp), quantum yield of photosynthesis(yield) are decreased and non-photochemical quenching(qN) are increased during the stress period. The changing extents in Fv/Fo、 Fv/Fm、qp、qN、yield in the drought tolerant variety M. sieversii are lower than the drought resistive variety M. hupehensis. The content of malondialdehyde (MDA) is raised. According to the facts mentioned above, it was inferred that inhibition of on primary conversion of light energy photosynthesis was related to membrane lipid peroxidation in Malus.
