EFFECTS OF O2 ADSORPTION ON THE ELECTRONIC AND OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF SINGLE-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES
The electronic and optical properties of the oxygen chemisorption on single-walled carbon nanotubes are studied by first principles calculations. The (17,0) car-bon nanotube can exhibit the electron or hole doping state at different oxygen chemisorption. The optical absorption spectra were performed under light polar-ized parallel to the tube axis. Our results provide the possibility that the elec-tric conductivity of carbon nanotubes can be decreased by photoinduced oxygen chemisorption, similar to the process of photodesorption.
