DIPOLAR INTERACTION BETWEEN OXYGEN IMPURITIES IN GERMANIUM
Low-temperature properties of crystalline germanium with oxygen impurities (Ge:O) are theoretically investigated in terms of the quantum rotor model. We predict that Ge:O samples with oxygen-impurity concentration of io17~18 cm3 show anomalous temperature dependencies for specific heat C(T) oc T2/3 below 0.1 K. The excess specific heat of Ge:O originates from the correlated motion of pairedrotors coupled via dipolar interactions.
