SPH METHOD AND ITS APPLICATION TO SIMULATE HYPER^ VELOCITY IMPACT PHENOMENA
Based on a brief description of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method, the discretization scheme of conservation equations in axisymmetric coordinate systems are developed and a method to determine the number of particles in the support domain is proposed. Numerical examples for hyper-velocity impact are carried out and the results clearly show that SPH method is not only suitable for the simulation of large deformation problems in impact dynamics, but also has several advantages over finite element/finite difference method.
