SPHERICAL HARMONICS METHOD FOR THE NEUTRON TRANSPORT EQUATION BASED ON UNSTRUCTURED-MESHES
The spherical harmonics (Pjv) method is applied to a newly raised self-adjoint an-gular flux (SAAF) neutron transport equation and a set of Pjv moments equations coupled with each other are obtained. An iterative method is utilized to decou-ple them and solve them one by one. Using the finite element method (FEM), the spatial variables are discretized on unstructured-meshes. Based on the model, a multigroup neutron transport equation calculation code is programmed. No limitation is imposed on the order of flux and scattering cross section angular ex-pansion. The numerical results of several benchmark problems demonstrate that this method can provide high precision result and avoid the ray effect, which appears in the discrete ordinate (Sat) method, very well.
