Isolation and identification of DDTs degrading bacterias from contaminated soil
Background DDT, an organic chlorinated pesticide which is heat resistant, acid resistant, highly hydrophobic and long-time persistent, is included among the 12 forbidden persistent organic pollutants (POPs). As biodegradation is an environmentally friendly technology to deal with DDTs contamination, isolation of highly efficiently degrading microorganism is of great significance by paving the way for further bioremediation of DDTs contaminated sites.
