Preparation of nanosized Beta zeolite with different Si/Al and the toluene adsorption performance for cold start emission control
1. Introduction Increasingly stringent legislation has led to the need for better control of vehicle cold start emissions. HC-trap technology firstly proposed by Engelhard Co. has already been one of the most promising ways to reduce the hydrocarbon in cold start emission. Zeolite adsorbents used in HC-trap technology have attracted much attention in the world, among them β zeolite was identified as a potential trapping agent. Propene and toluene, used as probe molecules for vehicle emissions, were found to absorb on β zeolite effectively, and their desorption occurring at about the temperature of vehicle operation.
