Developing High-Order Weighted Nonlinear Interpolations for Shock Wave Problems
High-order linear interpolation methods are susceptible to numerical oscillations in the vicinity of discontinuities. Two new weighted nonlinear interpolations (WNI) are developed to prevent this kind of oscillations by following the weighted idea of Deng and Zhang (Journal of Computational Physics, 2000). One of the WNI is fifth-order accurate, and the other is sixth-order accurate. The sixth-order WNI (WNI-6) is used in conjunction with the fifthorder weighted compact nonlinear scheme of Deng for solving shock wave problems on patched grids. The results indicate that the WNI can effectively prevent interpolation oscillations in the vicinity of shock waves.
