A Method for Hypersonic Aerothermoelasticity

Aerodynamic heating will be caused when a hypersonic vehicle is in flight, so it should be taken into account when an aeroelastic problem is analyzed. A model based on the loose coupling method for aerothermoelasticity is explored in this paper. The aerodynamic loads are solved by a rapid algorithm of Newtonian-Impact, which is fit for hypersonic vehicles. Firstly, aerodynamic heating analysis based on the initial configuration of hypersonic vehicle is carried out; secondly, the heat conduction is analyzed, then the vehicles temperature distribution and a corresponding model is obtained; finally, a fluid-structural coupling analysis under the temperature field is performed. A model like X-20 is analyzed as a numerical example in this paper, and the influence analysis of aerodynamic heating on the static aeroelasticity is successively carried out. The results indicate that the aerodynamic heating has a high influence on the structural deformation and the aerodynamic forces. Furthermore, the method in this paper has a great efficiency in aerothermoelastic analysis and a certain practical value in engineering application.
