Some Applications of High-Order Accurate Scheme on Aerodynamic Predictions over Hypersonic Vehicle Configurations
The explicit fifth-order weighted compact nonlinear scheme (WCNS-E-5) developed by Deng shows good dispersive and dissipative features, as well as robustness capturing discontinuities. In this paper some applications of WCNS-E-S are taken on two hypersonic vehicle configurations. Aerodynamic heating rate predictions are made over a double ellipsoid at attack angles of 0 and 20 degrees, at a Mach number of 8.15. Aerodynamic force predictions are made for an X-38 configuration at Mach 6.
