Investigation of a Novel Configuration Concept for Airbreathing Hypersonic Vehicles
A novel forebody-inlet integration design concept is proposed in this paper. This design incorporates the advantages of waveriders and conventional 2dimensional inlets design. Based on the proposed design concept, a novel airbreathing hypersonic vehicle configuration was developed. The aerodynamic characteristics and control characteristics of this configuration were investigated. The investigation results indicate that the aerodynamic characteristics of this configuration, including lift-to-drag ratio, longitudinal stability, latitudinal stability and aero-surface control effectiveness, are very satisfactory.
