The Application of Weissmans Departure Susceptibility Criteria for Hypersonic VehicleStability Analysis
For the stability analysis of plane-symmetric hypersonic vehicle, weissmans departure susceptibility criteria is induced, and the directional stability of a typical hypersonic wingbody combination is analyzed and simulated. The results show that lateral stability provides effective gains to directional stability, but the lateral control coupling has adverse influence to directional stability. The divergence process in course of lateral control is provided that, the rolling angular rates increase along with directional directions divergence, and at the critical roll velocity for inertial coupling, violent uncontrollable motions characteristic of inertial roll coupling occur about all three axes, and the vehicle enter into an accelerated supersonic spin. For the problem of lateral control coupling, the directional stability can be improved validly by using the aileron pre-deflected control method. Through this research, the validity of weissmans departure criteria to hypersonic vehicle directional stability analysis is verified, and relevant suggestions for the aerodynamic configuration design is presented.
