Optimized Inverse Recovery Pulse Sequence Improves Contrast in Magnetic Resonance

We considered the optimal pulse by magnetic fields of two spin 1/2 particles in a dissipative environment, and analyzed the inverse recovery of a nuclear magnetic resonance signal using optimal magnetic fields. We considered both the problems of minimizing the duration of the pulse and maximizing its contrast for a fixed duration. We solved the optimal control problems by using geometric methods and a numerical approach. The optimal pulse for the inverse recovery showed the duration is reduced by 55% and the contrast is increased by 50%.
