The Application of Plastic Inspection Chamber for Drainage in China

As key component of underground piping network for drainage, plastic inspection chambers have many prominent advantages and are also applied more and more widely instead of traditional brick-built ones. When users are getting familiar with this new technique, there are two major problems which have negative influence on popularizing plastic inspection chamber: connection technique and products antipressure performance. As plastic inspection chambers are pre-produced in factory, branch pipes are not able to connect with chamber body randomly like brick-built chamber. Moreover, due to that main pipes made of plastics are applied earlier than plastic chambers, varieties of plastic pipes are popular in market and their external diameters vary greatly from a large range. Therefore, it is difficult to connect chambers with pipes watertightly. Compared with traditional ones, users always feel that plastic chambers are light and have poor anti-pressure performance. It is necessary to design the structure and dimension of chambers on the basis of scientific study. The whole vertical load of chamber body is delivered to chamber base which is the key component of chamber body. Inside vertical socket for connecting riser, 360℃ircle step is set to spread vertical load equally and reinforcing ribs are made on bases external surface to improving bases vertical load performance. Reducer cone is the crucial part of manhole. Through numerical computation and analysis, it is important to design vertical, horizontal and arch reinforcing ribs scientifically to improve anti-prcssurc performance. We know that cone can sustain vertical load of 90KN through test and the result almost agrees in the theoretical analysis.
