Profile Wall Polyethylene Pipe Specification Development
Nearly 50 years of product development and design, along with advances in productions methods and improvements in resin quality and performance have led to a number of ASTM International (ASTM) standards covering profile wall thermoplastic pipe types that are widely used in North America and throughout the world. These standards address a variety of applications and markets. Compared to the current Chinese specification, which is based on an ISO draft, the ASTM standards are more restrictive in some areas, offer opportunities for more applications in others, and provide an higher quality, more durable product for many applications. As the Chinese thermoplastic pipe industry continues to expand; and China, as a nation, vastly improves their infrastructure, the differences between the current Chinese standards and the applicable ASTM standards should be reviewed and considered.
