VIEW ANGLE CHARACTERS OF THE NEW TYPE LCD. II
Calculation of the LCD director and transmission based on the continuous elastic theory, difference iterative method, and the Berremans4×4 matrix method is shown. The realization of this procedure is in Visual C + + to calculate the characters of the reflection-type and transmission-type of LCD. Sub-twisted nematic (SBTN) LCD is described which characteristics were not clear. Transmission has been calculated by using the software1 with different parameters. The results of the contrast-viewing angle curves show that: the SBTN liquid crystal display can achieve wide prospective. We found the optimal setting parameters: the azumith is 75°,Δnd=0.19°m, p0=5 °m and the off-axis angle is 0° to achieve wide prospective from-85 ° to 85° in the horizontal direction. When the voltage is 0V, SBTN is transparent. When the the voltage is 3.5V, SBTN is opaque. Of course, the azimuth from 60° to 90° can also be used to obtain wide prospective when △nd and p0 are chosen properly.
