TOOLS FOR GENE EXPRESSION ANALYSIS OF SINGLE-CELLS
The human genome project has opened the new era where various biological phenomena can be elucidated with massive molecular data including genomes, proteins, metabolites and so oa Recently, ultra-high throughput DNA sequencers have been developed and commercialized to produce tremendous amounts of biomolecular data. Although many biological phenomena have been elucidated with the data, there are still many things being not clarified. The analysis of gene expressions or proteins is carried out by consuming many cells to obtain averaged data. However, the averaging may mask the important information on a living system. Actually gene expression data for single-cells revealed even if cells are controlled equally, their gene expression patterns fluctuate from cell to celL Many cells in a tissue must play important their own roles to keep the tissue as a living system.
