PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF MONODISPERSE core-SHELL Fe3O4/SiO2 MICROSPHERES
This paper describes a facile route to prepare monodisperse core-shell Fe3O4/SiO2 microspheres with uniform size and shape. The morphology and structures of the products were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that spherical Fe3O4WSiO2 microspheres have a well-defined coreshell structure and a much smoother surface with well dispersion and a mean particle size of ~ 600 nm. Furthermore, VSM measurements indicated that the asprepared Fe3O4 and Fe3O4 @ SiO2 microspheres were superparamagnetic at room temperature and the saturation magnetization (Ms) were 58. 110 emu/g and 33. 479 emu/g respectively.
