PULMO-TRACKING OF GLUTATHIONE S-TRANSFERASE IN MAMMAL
Targeted delivery of macromolecules into the lung has not yet been achieved. Here we showed that glutathione S-transferase (GST) is able to selectively introduce the biologically active enzyme choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) into the mouse lung. GST and GST-fusion proteins were prepared and injected intravenously 200 fig per mouse, and the GST and ChAT activities in different tissues were determined by specteophotometry method. The results indicated that GST intravenously injected targets dominantly to the lung, and effectively introduced ChAT into the lung. These results will open a new possibility for the direct delivery of therapeutic proteins into patients for lung diseases.
