A NOVEL MICROFLUIDIC CHIP BASED ON HIGH DENSITY BEADS FOR DNA SEQUENCING

More and more genes of bacteria, plants and animals have been identified by the next-generation DNA sequencing platforms. However, the sequencing chip is a key role for the next-generation DNA sequencing platforms. In this paper, we developed a novel DNA sequencing chip by using microfluidic technology and beads. The chip is fabricated by MEMS technology, and a large number of beads with DNA fragments can be immobilized in the channels of the microfluidic chip. This kind of sequencing chip is tested on AG-100 DNA sequencer developed by our own laboratory. The results show that the chip can serve for the nextgeneration DNA sequencing with high throughput Compared with the SOLiD protocol of DNA sequencing, the fewer reagents are needed in the whole sequencing processes.
