ASSOCIATION BETWEEN CYP11A1 GENE SNP RS4077582 POLYMORPHISM AND POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME IN CHINESE WOMEN

The cholesterol side chain cleavage enzyme (CYP11A1) gene plays an important part in synthesize of sex hormone. Our study investigated the association between SNP rs4077582 of CYP11A1 gene and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in Chinese womea Genotyping of SNP rs4077582 was conducted by the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method that was performed on genomic DNA isolated from blood leucocytes. The genotypic distributions of the SNPs rs4077582 (CC, CT and TT) in women with PCOS did differ from those in controls (p=0. 002). Testosterone level among three genotypes was different in both control and PCOS groups. In addition, the LH level between three genotypes of rs4077582 in controls was significantly different (p=0. 039). The other data and reproductive hormones such as BMI, FSH, and E2 were similar between these genotypes. Our data suggests SNP rs4077582 in the CYP11A1 gene is associated with susceptibility to PCOS.
