ISOLATION AND SOME OPTIMIZATION CULTURE CONDITIONS OF SODIUM DODECYL BENZENE SULFONATE (SDBS) -DEGRADING BACTERIUM
The biodegradability of the principal component of synthetic detergent products known as linear alkylbenzene sulphonate (LAS) has been contentious, hence the need to research its primary biodegradation by indigenous microorganisms in wastewater ecosystem. The sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS)-degrading bacterium named SDBS1 was isolated with the SDBS as the sole carbon source. The characters of morphology and physiology of SDBS1 were investigated. It was shown that SDBS1 could be cultured well under following conditions: culture pH 7. 0, and 5 d culture time, and that the degradation of SDBS could reach 94.1%.
