Intercalation and Photochemical Behavior of Cationic Azobenzene Derivatives with Layered HNbWO6
Intercalation of photoactive molecules into layered inorganic materials has been paid considerable attention because novel photofunctions may appear through intercalations between the layered host lattices and incorporated guest molecules 1. The photoisomerization of azobenzene derivatives is one of the most functional photochemical reactions., because their photoisomerization includes changes of various chemical and physical properties such as the adsorption spectrum, dielectric constant and refractive index. The adsorbed and associated states of azobenzene derivatives intercalated in various layered clay minerals may depend on the kind of host material. The orientation and aggregation of guest species are influenced by the charge density of layered materials. 2
