Studies on the management of banded leaf and sheath blight disease of maize (Rhizoctonia solani f. sp. Sasaki) using fluorescent Pseudomonads
Among different fungal diseases affecting maize production, banded leaf and sheath blight induced by Rhizoctonia solani f. sp. sasaki causes significant grain yield losses. The disease is more prevalent in rice fallow maize in deltaic soils of Andhra Pradesh, India. In our present study, we have investigated the biocontrol potentiality of certain fluorescent Pseudomonads under in vitro conditions as an alternative to presently available fungicidal management. Eight strains of P. fluorescens were isolated from different soils under maize cultivation.
