Automotive Warranty Data: On the Relationship between the Driving Patterns and Warranty
This study extends previous work that accounts for mileage accumulation in automotive warranty data. Warranty coverage is typically limited by age as well as mileage. The age is known for all sold vehicles all the time, but mileage is only observed for a vehicle with a claim and only at the time of the claim. We study the relationship between the expected number/cost of warranty claims and the automobile’s driving pattern (DP). We illustrate our findings with real warranty data.
