Reliability-Based Design of a Spindle Based on Random and Interval Variables
The machine tool has been widely used in the manufascturing industry. For the manufacture tool, the performance of its spindle should be guaranteed. In this paper, reliability-based design (RBD) method of a spindle using the mixture of prediction models based on random and interval variables is proposed. Being lack of sufficient data, interval variable is adopted to describe the actual condition of cutting force. In order to obtain the performance functions related to the strength, deflection and mode characteristics, Design of experiment and Response Surface Method are used. The results testified the efficiency of the proposed method.
