Embracing Disruptive innovation as Strategy in Industrial Transition and Catching Up
In order to reach the target of low carbon and succeed in sustainable development, every country has launched sets of policies and plans. In addition, scholars argue that it is a time to achieve industrial transition during the process of catching up. Based on theoretical analyses and the case of the Chinese auto industry, this paper proposes a conceptual framework to bridge the strategies of disruptive innovation, industrial transition and catching up. It suggests that the disruptive innovation, especially the disruptive low-carbon innovation, provides an approach to achieve industrial transition and catch up at the same time. The research will contribute to the world sustainable development in general, the industrial transition in developing countries in particularly.
