Low Thrust to Weight Ratio Manoeuvre of a Bio-inspired Bi-mode UAV
This paper explores the potential of a new aggressive rotational manoeuvre of a fixed-wing aircraft that has a turn radius less than its semi-span. A conceptual overview for a bi-mode bio-inspired UAV is given with particular focus given to the preliminary qualitative and quantitative analysis of rotational flight with low thrust to weight for hover and asymmetrical thrust to achieve enhanced rotational capability.
