A Novel Method for the Prediction of Remaining Useful Life Based on the LSCR Approach
This paper introduces a new method for the assessment of the remaining useful life (RUL) based on the Leave Out Sign-dominant Correlation Regions (LSCR) algorithm. It has been known that this algorithm constructs a non-conservative and reliable confidence regions for model parameters in system identification. We employ this method for predicting the RUL by constructing confidence regions of unknwon model parameters of Paris’ law describing the damage crack growth. It is expected that thanks to the inherent property using only mild assumptions the resulting RUL is reliable in practical situations. It is also expected that the current study serves as bridging the gap between structural analysis and systems science communities.
