Fuzzy 2D Maximum Scatter Discriminant Analysis For Feature Extraction
A novel method of face image feature extraction, called the fuzzy 2DMSD (F2DMSD) based on the 2D maximum scatter discriminant analysis and fuzzy set theory, is proposed. In the proposed one, the membership degree matrix is calculated by FKNN, then the membership degree is incorporated into the definition of the between-class scatter matrix and the within-class scatter matrix. Then the fuzzy between-class scatter matrix and the fuzzy within-class scatter matrix are obtained. Experiments conducted on the FERET face databases and the Yale face database demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
