A virtual grasp method based on grasp-behavior-model

Virtual grasp of 3D objects provides an intuitive way to interact with virtual objects. However, in current virtual grasp methods, Virtual Hand Model (VHM) has not played a role as an interactive subject, resulting into unrealistic virtual grasp. To enhance virtual grasp, a method based on Grasp Behavior Model (GBM), taking advantage of the biological phenomenon that behavior is often stereotyped, was proposed. A GBM was a medium integrating intent of human and attributes of Object Model for Grasping (OMG), giving VHM some intelligence. Accordingly, a proposed computerized Feasible Grasping Pattern Space (FGPS) of a given OMG changed the natural grasping process model and reinforced the intelligence. To make virtual grasp more realistic, a strategy of Overall Stereotype & Local Modification (OSLM) was introduced. Finally, a detailed framework of virtual grasp based on GBM, FGPS and OSLM was illustrated, including related works such as constructing GBM, OMG and VHM, defining reference frames etc. This method can make VHM understand humans order better, and let more physical sensations be provided to human.
