Design of ZCZ Sequences with Inter-Group Orthogonal Properties for CDMA Communication Systems

This paper introduces a method to generated inter-group orthogonal (IGO) zero correlation zone (ZCZ) sequences suitable for code division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems. The designed IGO ZCZ sequence set can be divided into multiple sequence groups with each sequence group including the same number of sequences and the same ZCZ width. Every sequence group in the whole IGO ZCZ sequence set can be considered as a traditional ZCZ sequence set. However, different from traditional ZCZ sequence set, these sequence groups are mutually orthogonal, that is, cross-correlation function between any two sequences from different sequence groups is equal to zero at zero shift. As a result, the number of available sequences for CDMA communication systems will be significantly enhanced.
