3D Mesh Grid Constructed from Point Cloud and Bezier Surface Based on the Geometry of Human Knee Joint
The main objective of the present paper is to achieve an accurate surface reconstruction based on the surface point cloud matrix. The present method relies on utilizing the point cloud matrix to create a reasonable mesh grid by which Bezier patch is applied to reconstruct the irregular surfaces. A mesh grid acquisition technique (MGAT) based on a convenient projection of the surface which is represented by point cloud is achieved herein. The suggested projection is selected in the mode that always process separated contours of point cloud. The surfaces of femur and tibia for the human knee joint are investigated and geometrically represented by the present technique. Verifying the achieved geometric method, volumetric error results are detected and discussed for different Bezier patches.
