Study on Security Algorithms Energy Consumptions Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks

Measuring the energy consumption of security algorithms is the premise for the application of security algorithms in WSN, and is also the basis for the study on security algorithms with low energy consumption. With the increased requirement for security of WSN, the low energy consumption of security protocol with higher intensity of security will become the content of further studies. Energy consumptions caused by the implementation of security algorithms will have negative impacts on sensor nodes and the working life of the entire network. In order to achieve the balance between the security and availability of networks, in this paper it uses the Crossbow MICA2 node as the target platform to study the energy consumptions of various security algorithms by the physical measurement method. In addition, it proposes some principles of applying security algorithms to wireless sensor networks.
