An Effective Algorithm for Detecting Edges on Triangular Mesh
In order to detect the feature edges on 3D mesh precisely, the paper proposes an effective algorithm by using the related endpoints information to detect the 3D edge. The algorithm first selected the candidate feature vertexes by multi-stage adjacent information, calculated the deformation value on each candidate point; Then calculated the edges feature value by endpoints deformation value and other related information, calculated the statistical data on feature value to determine two threshold value; Finally, filtered out the seminal feature edges by higher threshold value, extended the feature edges by lower value to get complete edge, filtered the false feature edges by total length and linearity. Experiment results in real 3D models show the algorithms validity and superiority
