Topology Optimization for Mid-bed of a Computer Numerical Control Gear Shaping Machine Tool Based on Manufacturing Constraints
Topology optimization hleps in finding the optimal features of cast parts. Designs obtained by topology optimization often contain cavities and framework-like structures that are not available for casting. Transformation of a topology optimization design proposal to a manufacturable design could be difficult. This paper establishes a topology optimization model with manufacturing constraints. Topology optimization for mid-bed of a computer numerical control gear shaping machine tool is then conducted on Altair OptiStruct package. The original topology optimizatioin result is compared with the one with manufacturing constraints.Comparision proves the effectiveness of opology optimization with manufacturing constraints for the casting of mid-bed.
